It’s World Cancer Day; an international day observed every 4 February to raise awareness about cancer, encourage its prevention, and mobilise action.
That’s why we’ve chosen today to launch our new Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance website www.kentandmedwaycanceralliance.nhs.uk
It gives details of our Cancer Alliance and the work we do, including increasing the early diagnosis of cancer.
This year, the new World Cancer Day theme 2025 to 2027 is United by Unique, which places people at the centre of care and their stories at the heart of the conversation.
These values are at the heart of what we aim to do every day at Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance, and you can find out more by reading through the website.
Ian Vousden, Director of Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance said: “Whether you’re a member of the public, a patient, a primary or secondary care, local authority or voluntary, community and social enterprise colleague, we’ve created this website so we can share more information about the work we do and the opportunities for you to get involved too. Patients and the public
In the patients and public section, you’ll find details on the patient and public engagement page about how we work with patients to understand what matters to them, alongside information about how you can get involved by joining our Patient Working Together Group.
Translated patient information
We have a translated information page with patient information about cancer in a range of languages, in Easy Read for people with learning disabilities and resources for British Sign Language users.
Health professionals
There’s a section dedicated to health professionals, including information about workforce and education and pages dedicated to specific roles in cancer care, including videos where we hear from some of our cancer clinical nurse specialists (CNS) on their roles.
Opportunities to learn
Professionals working in primary care can also use the website to find out about opportunities to learn more about cancer pathways and finding ways to improve them within their practice. There’s also a primary care toolkits and information page that’s under development.
